Búzios

Búzios (or Armação dos Búzios), located on the North Coast of Rio de Janeiro, is the main vacation destination in the region. There are many beaches and options for bathing, walking and super lively nights. Good hotels and inns, together with excellent options of restaurants and bars complete the offer for the numerous visitors. From Rio to Búzios, by toll route, there are 180 km.

Bardot's steps

The place became famous after French actress Brigitte Bardot went to spend a vacation there. Since then Búzios has continued to attract tourists from Brazil and other countries.

Good Hotels and Restaurants

Armação dos Búzios offers visitors a good and varied range of hotels and restaurants, from expensive hotels and inns to some cheaper options. Local commerce (mainly beachwear) is also quite varied and there are also world brands and craft stores.

Nightlife

The nightlife also has plenty of options, from bars to excellent restaurants among the best in the North Coast.

Búzios by Bus

The 1001 Bus company takes you from Rio bus terminal to Búzios in modern buses for about R$ 50,00 - 80,00 (about US$ 12 - 20,00). There are several daily departures and the trip is done in about 3 hours 30 minutes. During weekends and holidays, expect some big jams at certain hours.

Booking hotel

Other good thing to do is booking your hotel or pousada (inn) in advance to avoid bad surprises and have to pay more for your accommodation.

The state of Rio de Janeiro has a coastline with 635 km in length. It extends from the south of the state of Espirito Santo to the north of the state São Paulo.

The North Coast

North of the city of Rio de Janeiro extends the North Coast (Região dos Lagos), which begins in Maricá and goes until São Francisco do Itabapoana (320 km from Rio de Janeiro). Most appreciated beaches: Cabo Frio and Búzios

City of Rio de Janeiro

Most known beaches are Ipanema, Copacabana, Leblon and Barra da Tijuca.

The South Coast

The South Coast (Costa Verde) goes from Mangaratiba to Paraty (248 km from Rio de Janeiro city). Most appreciated beaches are Angra dos Reis and Ilha Grande.
These are among the state of Rio de Janeiro's best beaches. From Rio de Janeiro it is relatively easy to discover these sun and beach paradises. Nautical Sports (diving, surf, cruises) and amazing tours from Brazil's first tourist destination.
