Lençóis Maranhenses
The cities of Barreirinhas and Santo Amaro do Maranhão are the main doorway to get to the National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses.
• From BarreirinhasThe city of Barreirinhas (262 km to the east of the city capital of São Luís do Maranhão) is reached by paved road. After a 3 hours trip from São Luís you will be at Barreirinhas, on the left bank of the Rio Preguiças. From now on, to walk through the dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses you will have to take a local 4x4 that will take you there, at the feet of the dunes.
• From Santo Amaro do Maranhão
A 2h30 hours trip from São Luís will carry you to the small city of Santo Amaro do Maranhão, at 220 km to the east of the city capital.
• From Primeira Cruz
Most difficult way to reach the Lençóis Maranhenses as you have to pass by Santo Amaro do Maranhão. Primeira Cruz is at 36 km to the west of Santo Amaro.
• From Humberto de Campos
On the road BR-402 (same road to Barreirinhas), at km 101, take to left to continue on the little road MA-311 to Humberto de Campos, 17 km ahead.
