The Girl from Ipanema
Even with new beaches that become the new stars - mainly among the young people - in Barra da Tijuca and beyond (Recreio dos Bandeiras, Grumari), Ipanema stay a select beach. Rio's best hotels, bars and restaurants are situated in this borough. It seems that Ipanema has been immortalized by Tom Jobim's song, The Girl from Ipanema.

From Arpoador to Leblon. As you come to the beach, from your hotel, on the extreme left, there is the Praia do Arpoador. To the opposite side, there is the Leblon Beach, at the other end of white sands. So, between Posto 7 and Posto 11, will be in the Ipanema's territory. Most animated points are between the Rua Farme de Amoedo Farme de Amoedo Street) and the Rua Maria Quitéria (Maria Quitéria Street)

Good bars and restaurants
After the beach, cariocas like to go the bar and talk for hours. Of course, they drink a frozen beer... You will certainly do the same. So, go to the Barril (near Praça General Osório), Farme de Amoedo's bars, the famous Garota de Ipanema bar (at the corner of Rua Vinicius de Morais and Prudente de Morais), for instance. You will certainly too find a good company to talk with you.
