Welcome
to
Rio de Janeiro, land of Brazil's
wonderful beaches and
superb Carnival
Bem-vindo ao Rio de Janeiro (Welcome to Rio de Janeiro) - Brazil's
most known city all over the world. Rio is always a loving place to discover
new people and learn more about Brazilians and their way of life.
Main doorway to Brazil's other regions and discoveries, Rio de Janeiro will amaze you with its famous Carnival and nice beaches.
So, come and follow our suggestions to discover Rio de Janeiro, thanks
to some of our local partners, such as Tropical Cruises
Discovering
Rio de Janeiro
Corcovado (The Christ) - the best place to overview the city. With
the Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf), these the musts for the visitor
to have a complete overview of Rio de Janeiro. A two days stay must certainly include these two visits. But, for some, the
must to visit Rio is its Carnival...
Rio's Carnival
So,
if you like amuseing parades and feasts, this is absolutely a better occasion
to come to Rio. Every year, thousands of people from all over the world
come and take part of this unique and marvellous spectacle. To participate
of Rio's Carnival, the visitor has to make reservations a long
time in advance, as places are limited. If you do not make reservations,
prices will be higher, very higher.
Where to stay
This is not really a problem, as Rio de Janeiro has a lot of good hotels in every category you want. It is even
possible to stay at someone's house - guests houses - or to rent an appartment for certain occasions (New Year, Carnival and so on).
What
to do
As one of Brazil's major cities, there is a lot of things to do in Rio: good museums, monuments, beaches, shops, football stadiums (see the Maracanan,
on this photo), dancing and restaurants for every taste. If you like history and architecture, a visit to Rio's downtown churches and monasteries (such as the
São Bento) will give you a good idea of Brazilian Baroque period.
Rio by night
And, for those of you that like amuseing places, don't miss Asa Branca's
forró, as well many other place where you can listen to bossa
nova, samba and choro.
