An old fishermen's little town
Jeri, as it is called by local people, is an old fishermen little town.
Its quiet life was very appreciated by visitors, as well as its fantastic
dunes, palm trees, lagoon and, most of all, its dolce far niente. At the beginning, visitors stayed at the inhabitant's houses. There was no electricity at all.
Nowadays, with fame, electricity, pousadas and some very goods hotels have come. Lots of tourists from all over the world visit Jericoacoara. You can enjoy this fantastic place.

Bem-vindo a Jijoca de Jericoacoara
Welcome to Jijoca (or Gijoca) of Jericoacoara! In spite of the difficulties
to get there, Jericoacoara is the most beautiful among all of Ceará's
beaches, and, even of Brazil's beaches. This is also true for foreigners,
particularly Americans, who love Jeri. In fact, there are a lot of options to reach Jeri: comfortable coaches from Redenção Company (departures from Fortaleza). Minibuses and 4x4 offroad tours organized
by local operators. The most comfortable one is operated by our partner Ecoadventure Tours.
Fortaleza (Ceará)
If you are already in a hurry to get at this marvellous place, plan your
trip to Fortaleza (in Ceará State). Another option, is to get there
from other Brazil's main international doorways (São Paulo and Rio de
Janeiro). There are cheaper flights to these cities. From there take a
return flight to Fortaleza. You will certainly enjoy staying at Fortaleza,
because there are many beautiful beaches with jangadas (photo in
the right) and feasts to go. But do not forget to go to Jericoacoara!
Take
a 4x4 tour to Jeri
The next step, for those who love comfort and adventure, the best option is to take a round trip to Jeri by 4x4. From Fortaleza to Jeri, go alongside the coast. You will surely appreciate this unforgettable trip along
Ceará's West Coast: nice beaches, jangadas, palm trees, dunes, white sand a diving...
Between a stop and the next one, take the time to drink a caipirinha
or an água de côco (a guaraná, a cerveza bem gelada. It's
up to you!)

Tours at Jeri
If you are curious enough to see what's over the dunes outside Jericoacoara, there are some tours to neighbouring little towns (Tatajuba, etc).
But do not miss the trip to Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon) and the walking to the Pedra Furada, the natural monument of Jeri.
