Salvador's
Carnival
Most visitors come to Salvador during Carnival. It is certainly Brazil's
most popular. More than one million of persons dance behind the famous
Trios Elétricos. They are trucks equipped with amplifiers and groups
that play funny music. The oldest is Dodô e Osmar. Famous bahian
artists, such as Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Daniela Mercury
and Ivete Sangalo, among others, are there and sign to the crowds.
Baroque Churches
Arts,
Architecture and baroque style are another highlight of Salvador's attractions.
The São Francisco Church is said to be Brazil's richest baroque
church. Many people say Salvador has 365 churches, so you can go to a
different one everyday of the year...
Do not forget to visit the famous Bonfim Church (Igreja do Bonfim)
and make your wishes. They may come true.
Where to stay
Salvador
has plenty of good hotels, charming pousadas and restaurants. It is only
a question of choice. However, during Carnival, New Year and summer holidays,
be advised to make your reservation in advance.
What to do
Beaches, nautical sports, shows, dancing, tours and ecotours are
