Porto Seguro (State of Bahia), in the Bahia's South Coast (Costa do Descobrimento) is Brazil's first destination for summer holidays and Carnival.

Carnival and History

History, nice beaches and cheerful people are among the main attractions of Porto Seguro. It was in this region that Portuguese, in 1500, saw for the first time the cliffs of Brazil.


How to get there
Porto Seguro has now its own airport. In any way, you can get there from Salvador or any other Brazilian State's capital. From Salvador to Porto Seguro there almost 700 km, so it is not a good idea to do this by road, unless you have a lot of time.


What to do
In Porto Seguro major attractions are its beaches and neighbouring charming little towns.

Boat tours are proposed by tour operators to discover the coast from Porto Seguro. Very interesting!


Where to stay
There plenty of good hotels and restaurants in Porto Seguro, but it is always a good idea to make reservations in advance to avoid a bad surprise.

Porto Seguro by night

This is surely the more interesting part of your journey after the beaches. A lot of good bars and restaurants are always crowded with nice and interesting people. If you plan to meet people, that's it.
