Fortaleza (State of Ceará), as its neighbouring Natal
(RN) is the Cidade do Sol (the Sunshine City), as it is called
by its cheerful inhabitants. Sunny days are frequent here in this
charming Northeastern city. Dunes, lukewarm, turquoise or green water
beaches, palm trees and a very good cooking are musts of Fortaleza.
In addition, in Fortaleza you can go out everyday,
even on Mondays. It is said that Fortaleza is the most cheerful city of Brazil's Nordeste region.
How to get there
There are some international flights to Fortaleza from Europe (Portugal and Spain). Visitors from other continents can get there with connections in other
Brazilian major cities (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, etc).
From Northeastern capitals (Natal, Recife and São Luís) , it is possible to get there by the road (coaches or car hiring).
What to do
Fortaleza's major attractions are its beaches: Meirelles,
Mucuripe, Iracema and its famous statue of Iracema, the
Indian Virgin with Honey lips.
Buggy tours are proposed by tour operators to discover the coast
from Fortaleza to Natal. Very exciting!

There plenty of good hotels and restaurants in Fortaleza, mainly at Meirelles
and Iracema. Praia do Futuro has good hotels too.
Fortaleza by night
There are some good options to go out in the night at Fortaleza, mainly
the famous forró of the Praia do Futuro beach. Bars and
restaurants offers good music and you can easily find nice people to talk
and meet. Fortaleza's inhabitants are known for their sympathy
and hospitality.
