Discovering the Pantanal

Discovering the Pantanal
This astonishing trip will carry you, first, to the two capitals of the Pantanal: Cuiabá, the State of Mato Grosso's capital, to visit the North Pantanal, and, to the city of Campo Grande, State of Mato Grosso do Sul's capital, to discover South Pantanal. These two cities are very well serviced by air companies or by daily coaches from Brazil's main cities. As a practical example, from Rio de Janeiro to Campo Grande, by coach, it will take some 22 hours.

From Cuiabá to Poconé

If you start your fantastic trip by the North Pantanal, you will leave Cuiabá and go to Poconé, situated some 95 km southeast of Cuiabá. Poconé is the main gate to North Pantanal and it is there that begins the famous Estrada (Route) Transpantaneira (the Trans-Pantanal Road).
So, if you want to stay there to your exploration, choose a hotel or pousada in the Poconé region.

From Campo Grande to Corumbá

If you choose the Southern Pantanal, your main gate will be Campo Grande with its airs of western, the capital of State of Mato Grosso do Sul. From Campo Grande you will travel to the Pantanal, more precisely at Corumbá, situated almost 400 km to the west of the State capital and about 15 minutes from the Bolivian border, on the right bank of the River Paraguay.
Corumbá and its plaine's landscapes, is covered by forests and crossed by plenty of rivers and igarapés. It is the announcing sign that the adventure is approaching... It can be your HQ to exploration of Southern Pantanal.

There is also another option to discover South Pantanal: Aquidauana
