2006
In 2006
Brazil's Carnival has made a big step forward as Rio
de Janeiro has now its new Cidade do Samba.
From now on, the city's Escolas de Samba have a new place to work during all the year and to prepare in good conditions what
has become the world's most important popular manifestation of joy and cheerfulness.
Salgueiro opens the Big Parade
 And
to start these marvellous parades, this Saturday Feb 25th at 21h00 (Brazil
Time), in the Avenida Marquês do Sapucaí in downtown Rio de Janeiro,
the red and white colours of the GRES Acadêmicos do Salgueiro will
set the Avenue on fire and carry the crowd to ecstasy.
The Sambódromo will be crowded from early at noon until Sunday morning (06:00 am), when the last Escola de Samba will
end its parade.
During the second day of parade, the Sunday Feb 26th the crowd will admire a new group of Escale de Samba make their fantastic show.
